Hello!
My name is Marc, and I’ve been playing the drums as much as possible since the age of 8. From growing up in Montreal, to studying Jazz in New York City, to touring and performing all across Canada, the United States and even some cities in Europe, this instrument has definitely introduced me to some amazing people, places and situations.
I’m currently playing with some of my favorite musicians in some bands like Tea & Co., The Bud Rice Band, and Jonathan Roy‘s group.
Feel free to listen to the tracks I’ve uploaded, and to come out to one of my shows if you happen to be in the area. If you’d like more info, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Also, please take the time and visit my web project DrumLessonLand.com, where I teach drums with free videos and articles.
I’ve recently written a book for drummers just entering or just leaving college. It’s aimed at helping them to understand what skills they absolutely need to master to become a professional drummer. There are no technical exercises or sheet music. It’s just detailed explanations of the key aspects of being a drummer, and then my advice on how to go about working on those aspects within your own playing.
I discuss groove, sound, and musicianship, which are key parts of drumming in ANY style, and should be worked on by every drummer. I also talk about choosing which style to play, making decisions on schools, networking, learning who you are, and fully exploiting your own strengths and weaknesses. For anyone interested in drumming, it’s a good read!
